CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS IN 2021 WILL GROW STRONGLY BACK – WHAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE TILES INDUSTRY

Despite being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2020 the building materials industry (building materials) still achieved many positive results. As of early November, cement consumption reached 74 million tons, construction glass placed 141 million m2,  tiles   reached 452 million m2… It is forecasted that in 2021 the industry will prosper and achieve growth again.

According to Director of the Department of Building Materials (Ministry of Construction) Pham Van Bac, the Covid-19 epidemic has negatively impacted the economy in general. However, with the epidemic under control, Vietnam’s economy still achieved a positive growth index, according to which the building materials industry still recorded positive business results. Specifically, by the beginning of November 2020, the consumption of salted cement reached 74 million tons, construction glass reached 171 million m2, sanitary ware reached 12.8 million products, paving stone reached 12 million m2. , tiles reached 452 million m2, industrial lime reached 1.5 million tons, fibro cement roofing sheets reached over 33 million m2.

“All building materials products are still in stable production, although productivity and output have decreased compared to the same period last year, most of them have positive growth. Particularly cement has not only achieved the goal of domestic production but continued to be exported to foreign countries. The real estate market is considered to have many positive signals in the coming year. This is an opportunity for the construction sector to continue to thrive,” said Mr. Pham Van Bac.

According to Mr. Pham Khoi Nguyen, “In the coming time, many large public investment projects will continue to be implemented; Together with the recovery of the real estate market, it will be a good opportunity for the building materials industry to recover and grow again.”

Currently, the Ministry of Construction has issued many policies to promote the development of the industry, such as:

+ Strategies for the development of building materials or advice to develop a project to protect economic security in the field of building materials; amending and supplementing Decree No. 24a/2016/ND-CP and a number of other legal documents; advising the Government to promulgate a scheme to promote the treatment and use of ash, slag and gypsum as raw materials for the production of building materials and in construction works approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1696, Decision No. 452. Recently, it was proposed to the Government to continue implementing the Program to develop unburnt building materials in the period of 2021 – 2030… These are important bases for the development of the building materials industry in the coming time.
